Discipline

01/08/2023

The word itself "discipline" is scary at first, right? Because we change, everything is changing everyday. One day you are full of new ideas, another day you are not sure about your technique or you are bored about your technique or the technique you have is not enough for your new ideas. You go back to the fundamentals, you make it better and then your new ideas are burning inside you, you are also away from them. You just find another discipline there and will take years to make it perfect, then suddenly you on your new ideas, maybe you should write them, or record? What is a musician? What does make a musician survive with his skills nowadays? What does the listener want? Or we are dreaming a better world to actually make ourselves suffer less? Or is "suffering" a must to be a great one? What is the limit for it? And at the end what was for this whole journey and observations as they are the actual lessons?

These type of questions and questions in general are in the way of destroying the motivational source of an artist. Because the questions come from outside. The questions from outside mean "the world wants something you do", the questions come from inside is "you want something to show the world". That's the main reason only few of the musicians made such as Chick Corea or Horowitz or Stravinsky... The main point here you make music for what? To become famous? You want become famous for what? To get more love? Or does really the "likes" mean something on Instagram? Or you touch somebody's soul and heart and mind, but you only have one "like" on the social media? Are you happy? Are you satisfied with the results? Are you enjoying the path even when you are in pain? Are you, yourself when you are having the urge of creating something immediately? The questions come with the results? Each question will give you an answer to go forward actually but if you can control your thoughts. If you can't, then your motivation for creating art will lack. When I say "creating art", it's for also interpretations. You can be a classical player and what you do is actually creating art unless you don't copy or use a memorized technique and understanding maybe you learn from your teachers but curving for the new.

What I do is basically don't really think anything but creating a picture; I'm in it, I'm not it, I'm signing, I'm listening, a story is there or something can't be told with the music but even though forcefully I'm there to express this kind of philosophical thoughts or just some kind of feeling inside me. And the hardest part would be still make it listenable. Because it's music. There is the "maker" and "listener", as "listener" is also yourself.

Do you fight to go practice with yourself? If you fight there will be winner, because if you practice in this way you will loose the meaning of Life = music. But if you listen, here is the answers. Listen. We all might forget this part of Life. But you must be a great listener to be a great person, then an artist.
