If you are composer or an improviser which they were also improvisers such as Bach, Chopin or Beethoven then you will face to beauty of strings as well. And I when first start writing/composing (I started when I was 17) your first works would be plain and pure. Saying this, shouldn't make anybody feel bad about it. There would be lots of great ideas and later on you will add the books you have read and more in many ways of art did feed each other. The texture and quality of the work that matters. You might have a great work but has no meaning behind then your main picture needs to be improved and when I look at musician in general they become a virtuoso of their instrument or they compose music. I believe the both need to be done at the same time. To make it easy you need to work on yourself first. Your master piece is yourself before your compositions and performances/recordings/concerts.
When you have a great idea behind any composition/improvisation you need to make it very sharpe/tight. It has to be like Ferrari. It has to be done in a way you won't need to put any decoration/the things to make it fancy. I find many "great" composer (I don't say this word but many music writers said for them) (I don't put their name but you might guess), has unnecessary scales or mods in their compositions. The fame doesn't mean anything if the behind of this fame is empty. Fame is important if there are works behind can stand in many centuries without being cliche. That's one of biggest problem when it comes to music. Because if you make your work goes after a tool which is "music" then that's not a master work. The music itself is a tool like the instruments. You will need to make it higher than human or Earth and yes you might have an underground kingdom that's also must be well designed when it comes to understanding deep places of the art.
Art never becomes easy, because any great work would make the listener have unexpected reality in any ways and it means you will need a very clear vision of where you stand in the human history with lots of hard work to make it. Your performance must be honest, clear, sometimes imperfect in its nature and has surprises. Nobody would be having great time with something they can guess what will happen next and each second counts.
When I look at my early works I find the pure belief behind all the pages. With time you can gain information, more information will be on the way but the most important thing imagination about next. Even if you don't know about it, you have to write something others can imagine it for yourself. You are more than what you have done with the writing, your performance. You are a soul and in this infinite ways of universe you will be remembered by how you look at human/animals/nature/your family/friends/the information and at the end you will be become all if you don't notice differences between you and your outer world, you will be missing everything.
